Hope all of you who have "sweeties" or "honeys" have given them a nice surprise of some kind today - even if it was handmade or just some extra time focused on them! That'll help make up some for those of us who don't have a "sweetie" or a "honey" yet. Anyway, I've had a really nice day so far. God sent me snow flurries this morning and, in the non-food category, other than having delivered me a bouquet of irises and lilacs - that's the best thing in my book!
We had a potluck lunch - my contribution was quiche, and it was yummy - and someone brought mini-cheesecakes!
Baked mini-cheesecakes!
Not those gelatin kind, but the real thing!
With strawberries!
Those of you who know me well know that this is my all-time, ultimate favorite! So, as I said, for someone without a "sweetie" or a "honey" I'm having a pretty good day! And it will just continue to get better. I made a special torte for my in-town family and I'm going to head over there for a short time this evening before I go home to finish packing, to head towards my parents! Oh yeah, the torte...
It's actually the first time I've ever tried one. For those of you who are not culinary-types, a torte is a cake but made without flour. Most of the time it is made with ground nuts instead, sometimes without even that. I chose this because several members of my family have found that they are allergic to the wheat and have been doing without if for quite some time now. So this allowed me to make them a special treat to show them how special they are to me AND stick to there special needs all at the same time. Anyway, mine called for the ground nuts and I used almonds. Then instead of frosting, which once again I'm not a big fan of, it is covered in chocolate ganache. Then I fancied it up by putting little Ghiradelli bars stuck in the top standing up and a little powdered sugar to look like snow! I'll try to remember to take a picure before we devour it and show it to you later! Anyway, I'm looking forward to dessert with my family tonight.
Hope whatever you've done today or have planned for tonight that you enjoy your time with people who are special to you. And please don't forget the Lover of your soul, too. God loves you more than anyone else could ever even want to, and He will lavish you with His love if you will accept it!
